
Fifth Grade Safety Patrol Recognized at Roselle Park Board of Education Meeting
ROSELLE PARK, NJ- At the board of education meeting Tuesday evening, fifth grade students were applauded for their contributions to the school community. The group of students are part of the Safety Patrol and serve in a leadership role for their peers.
Advisor Jodi Foy kicked off the public session with a heartfelt congratulations to the students, commending them on their work. “They’re seen as role models to all of their younger peers,” Foy noted, expressing gratitude to Principal Riggi for his support of this program.
27 students received certificates for their exemplary service in promoting safety and assisting younger peers, reinforcing the program's importance in fostering leadership and responsibility.
Following the celebration, Principal Lou Riggi delivered an upbeat report on the school year’s kickoff at Aldene Elementary, highlighting the enthusiastic return of students and staff. He celebrated record attendance at back-to-school night and acknowledged the contributions of the parent teacher organization and volunteers.
In reviewing its monthly harassment, intimidation and bullying report, the board emphasized a tailored approach to addressing incidents, focusing on consequences that aim to educate offenders. Additionally, each school implemented 14 programs and training sessions to enhance school safety.
The meeting concluded with the approval of advisors for new extracurricular activities, including the Criminal Psychology Club and a pickleball team, broadening students’ opportunities for engagement.
